Climate Station, a collaboration between Sony Interactive Entertainment and the United Nations' "Race to Zero" alliance, utilizes cutting-edge gaming technologies—including virtual reality (VR)—to allow players to view, interact with, and understand complex climate data, thereby raising awareness of climate change issues.

PlayStation 5 users can experience Climate Station with high-definition visuals on 4K televisions to explore a wealth of climate information, while the immersive experience delivered by PlayStation VR2 presents otherwise complex and obscure climate data in a more vivid and intuitive manner.

Climate Station launched on the PS5 and PS VR2 platforms on June 18, available for free to players worldwide. This application is divided into three main modules—Annual WeatherObservation, and Prediction—which tell stories about climate change through diverse methods, and also features an Explanatory Library for users to explore independently.

In the Annual Weather module, users will gain an initial understanding of the complex and interconnected weather systems on Earth through visual exploration of 2019 weather events.

The Observation module compiles 120 years of climate data, including detailed temperature records from thousands of locations around the world, depicting the gradual process of global warming.

In the Prediction module, users can leverage the latest climate model data certified by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to explore the potential impacts of different decisions on climate change and the Earth’s future by the end of this century.

Climate Station also includes an Explanatory Library section, offering 90 minutes of multimedia content that vividly explains knowledge related to climate change.

Climate Station can not only be comfortably used by players at home but also applied in scientific research and educational scenarios. As an interactive scientific tool, it transforms complex climate data into an immersive experience. All data used in this application comes from the most authoritative professional institutions in the field, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Berkeley Earth, the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).
