Swiss VR flight training company Loft Dynamics recently announced the completion of a $24 million Series B funding round led by Friedkin. Alaska Airlines, along with existing shareholders Sky Dayton, Craft Ventures, and UP.Partners, also participated in the investment.
This round of funding brings Loft Dynamics' total financing to $60 million, marking a key step in the company's expansion into commercial airliner training services, while it will also continue to develop its core helicopter training business.

Loft Dynamics has developed the world’s only VR helicopter simulator certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which has been adopted by organizations such as Airbus Helicopters, the Los Angeles Police Department, and Air Greenland. With this latest investment, the company is applying its cutting-edge technology and regulatory credibility to revolutionize the way airliner pilots are trained on a large scale.
Fabi Riesen, Founder and CEO of Loft Dynamics, said: “The pace of pilot training hasn’t kept up with the rest of the aviation industry. We’re still sending trainees across the country to sit in dome-shaped simulators the size of a warehouse that cost $10 million to $20 million—technology that hasn’t evolved in decades. In an era of pilot shortages and increasingly busy air traffic, this is simply no longer sustainable.”
“We’re building a new standard—one that’s far more realistic and accessible than ever before. High-quality, regular training creates better pilots. And better pilots mean safer skies.”
Loft Dynamics’ recent focus is on developing a fully integrated hardware and software system designed to make pilot training safer, more effective, more immersive, and scalable.
Initial products will include its existing helicopter simulators, as well as all-new full-motion VR airliner simulators for the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320—12 times smaller in size than traditional full-flight simulators and a fraction of the cost.
Loft’s new airliner simulators will feature a multi-crew replica cockpit with full aircraft haptic feedback, body and eye-tracking capabilities, and an AI-powered training intelligence system that measures pilot performance and provides personalized feedback. They will also be equipped with LofTWIN—a virtual demonstration mode that allows instructors to record immersive lessons for pilots to review at any time. These systems will enable pilots to safely and regularly train for any scenario, including rare high-risk situations and real-life aviation tragedies.
To further improve training accessibility, Loft Dynamics is also developing a spatial computing-driven home training kit, allowing pilots to review lessons, access immersive content, and conduct remote training at their base or in their own living room.
As part of this investment, Dan Friedkin, Chairman and CEO of Friedkin Companies (and an experienced pilot himself), will join Loft Dynamics’ board of directors. He will work closely with Series A investors Sky Dayton (Partner at Craft Ventures, founder of Boingo Wireless, EarthLink, and CloudKitchens) and Ben Marcus (Co-Founder and Managing Partner at UP.Partners), who also serve on the board.
Dan Friedkin said: “Loft Dynamics is defining a new era in aviation training. This investment enables them to scale their solutions globally, accelerate innovation, meet the industry’s urgent needs, and 提升 pilot safety in the process. Loft brings the vision and execution needed right now.”
“Through our corporate venture capital arm, Alaska Star Ventures, we’re excited to support Loft Dynamics in bringing FAA-certified VR technology to commercial airliner training,” said Pasha Saleh, Director of Corporate Development at Alaska Airlines.
